What Sets Us Apart

Distinctive Features of the Degree

HBC’s curriculum is intentionally different from secular and liberal arts models. Every design decision serves one goal: producing graduates who are deeply rooted, practically equipped, and ready to serve.

📚

More Bible Classes

General education hours have been trimmed to make room for more Scripture. HBC students receive 6 hours of Life of Christ study — compared to the typical 4 hours at most colleges.

🔄

Sufficient Repetition

Students survey every book of the Bible twice, with detailed attention to most books. The curriculum is paced to build lasting retention, not just a rapid pass-through of material.

More Practical Courses

From personal finances to church administration, the program includes vital practical training that most Bible colleges overlook — preparing graduates for the real demands of ministry life.

🏠

Ministry-Focused General Ed

Even general education classes like U.S. History and Government are taught through a Biblical lens, connecting academic content to Christian service and current issues facing believers.

Not all courses are offered every semester. Hawaii Baptist College is a Bible-first institution, and our curriculum is built around deep, repeated engagement with Scripture — students may study the same book of the Bible multiple times, each time from a different angle and with greater depth. The courses offered each term are tailored to the specific needs and spiritual growth of the current student body, ensuring that every class is purposeful and timely.

A Note On

Accreditation

Hawaii Baptist College has not sought regional or any other external accreditation. It is our conviction that pursuing this process would interfere with our mission of training students for full-time Gospel ministry. We believe the highest standards of Biblical ministry training can be provided without academic oversight from secular accrediting agencies.

Regarding transfer credit, it is the policy of each institution to set its own requirements. Students who anticipate needing to transfer credits are responsible for confirming transferability with other institutions they may choose.
