Finances

A quality education kept intentionally affordable so you can focus on ministry, not debt.

“For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence; but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.”
Ecclesiastes 7:12

Our Philosophy

How Budget Needs Are Met

Hawaii Baptist College is a ministry of Ko’olau Baptist Church and shares many of the assets afforded to other ministries of the church — such as property, facilities, and staff. Student charges are purposefully kept low in order to prevent students from having to bear a heavy debt load as they venture out into ministry.

This cost is kept low through the shared use of church staff, visiting pastors who volunteer to teach, and through other means of support listed below.

Shared Church Resources

The college shares property, facilities, and staff with Ko’olau Baptist Church, dramatically reducing overhead and passing those savings directly to students.

🏫

Volunteer Instructors

Visiting pastors volunteer their time to teach, bringing real-world ministry experience into the classroom at no additional cost to students.

💕

Partner Support

Churches and individuals who believe in HBC’s mission contribute through various means, enabling the college to keep student costs as low as possible while maintaining quality ministry training.

Partner With Us

Ways to Support HBC

Churches and individuals who partner with Hawaii Baptist College help make ministry training accessible to the next generation. There are many ways to invest in the lives of our students.

Church Support

Many churches will sense a feeling of agreement with the thrust of HBC and want to support it on a monthly basis, just as they would support a missionary ministry.

Cash Gifts

Gifts made directly to the college make possible the day-to-day operation of the school. When committed churches and individuals include HBC in their own budgets, the college is able to plan and more effectively administer its operating budget.

Life Insurance Gifts

An existing policy may be assigned to HBC, or HBC may be named as beneficiary on a present or new policy. An insurance policy can also be transferred to Hawaii Baptist College directly.

Stocks & Bonds

Gifts of appreciated securities offer an outstanding way to be involved in God’s work. You can avoid capital gains tax and gain a charitable contribution equal to the current market value of the securities.

Personal Property

Gifts such as paintings, antiques, or books are accepted and carry similar tax advantages as appreciated securities and real property.

Real Estate

Houses, land, farms, ranches, commercial or residential property — real estate gifts offer avoidance of capital gains taxes and can be recorded as a charitable contribution. A unique way to have a vital part in the work being done at HBC.

Living Memorial Trust

Such gifts are opportunities to establish lasting tributes for departed loved ones — a meaningful way to honor their memory while investing in the next generation of ministers.

Wills & Bequests

Wills or bequests to HBC allow the college to become an extension of your personal witness and testimony for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ — joining hands together that the Light might continue to shine until Christ returns.
